Discover beautiful hand-crafted items, jewellery, giftware, decorative carvings, arts and crafts and so much more as you journey through our bustling Global Market.
The main stage entertainment kicks off at 2pm and brings together diverse cultural performances on a truly grand scale. With sticks clashing and festooned with bells, Belswagger Morris Folk dancers will take you through different English village traditions of Cotswold Morris dancing.
Delight in cultural performances from students from Bundamba State Secondary College, and don't miss the most exciting Gypsy Jazz act in Australia, Cigàny Weaver creating sounds reminiscent of Jazz Manouche, traditional Romani music to contemporaries such as Bjork and invoking an array of toe-tapping from the subtle tap to the carefree exuberant stomp. Roots and Funk outfit, Fat Picnic is on a funky mission to get people moving as they combine infectious grooves, high energy and good times. Zambabem take over the stage with their upbeat popular Brazilian music from their homeland. Songs are sung in Portuguese with an energy and beat that everyone can dance to!
World first Didjboxa Geoffrey Fabila will captivate you with his modern spin on the didgeridoo's ancient and traditional sound, while Umkancho present a new wave of mindful and intelligent African music built around the traditional Zimbabwean Mbira.
Enjoy the spectacle of colourful and imaginative traditional costumes from the famous Oruro Carnival as Bolivia Marka Dance Group present exotic and rarely seen dances from different regions of Bolivia - the folkloric capital of South America. Fall in love with rich and diverse traditional Persian music performed by the talented Jazzab Ensemble. Watch the Chinese Lion make its way through the audience to the sound of drums, gongs and cymbals. Bounce your shoulders to the Bollywood beat and move like a real Bollywood star when Dance Masala run through some authentic moves.
Create your own Hawaiian Lei, musical instrument, celebration mask, Chinese lantern or tribal necklace at the Global Kid's Village presented by Queensland Urban Utilities. Enjoy inventing a drum song, learn the ancient art of Chinese paper cutting, receive a henna tattoo or get an African hair braid at the interactive demonstrations. Indulge your passion for Chinese food and learn mouth-watering recipes you can make at home as Chinese MasterChefs A. Chen Caisheng, B. Zou Zhiping and C. Tan Zhiguo prepare and showcase authentic cultural dishes. Having prepared dishes for celebrities, these multi-award winning MasterChefs will demonstrate the preparation of traditional Chinese dishes, while a variety of Chinese food stalls will serve a feast of regional cuisine to tantalise your taste buds.
