2010 heralds a year of significant commemoration, as the City of Ipswich celebrates its 150th birthday as a part of the Ipswich Festival.
Once again, the City sets the stage for a program of events and activities that will continue to entertain, inspire and celebrate the essence of our City's culture, spirit and community to the highest calibre, marking the Ipswich Festival as one of the major events on the Queensland calendar.
The support from local community groups, businesses, the media and corporate sponsors has excelled our expectations, and their collective contribution has resulted in a stimulating program that offers an assortment of entertainment and opportunities for all ages to participate.
Mark your calendars for some of the highlight events, which include the opening concert and fireworks over the river, our Street Parade, which has been re-routed to finish at the Top of Town for a fiesta of entertainment from 5 continuous dance stages, eating-out and a party for the whole city. Add Global Fiesta, a party for our seniors in the mall, the Country and Youth Nights, Jazz, Wine and Blues in a new venue and with an extraordinary line-up. The festivities conclude with Kids Kingdom and the 150 Years In The Park Concert featuring Ben 10 and the Amazing Drumming Monkeys - complete with vaudeville comedy and pop combined, from the extraordinary Mic Conway and his National Junk Band.
